Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026
The short version: Dank Diary is self-hosted. When you use it, your product data lives in a database you create and control — not one we operate. We never see it, store it, or have access to it. This page explains exactly what that means and what limited information we do handle (like waitlist signups and purchases).

How Dank Diary actually works

Dank Diary isn't a service we run for you — it's source code you set up on your own free Supabase account (for your database) and your own Netlify or GitHub account (for hosting). Once it's running, every product you log, every photo you upload, and every setting you choose lives in that database. We don't have a login to it, a copy of it, or any way to view it.

This means most of what you'd expect a typical "Information we collect" section to say doesn't apply to Dank Diary the app, because we're not the ones holding your data. The sections below explain what we do handle — mainly around the waitlist and purchase process — and what stays entirely yours.

What we collect (waitlist and purchase)

If you join the waitlist or make a purchase, we collect:

What we don't collect

We do not collect, receive, or have access to any data inside the Dank Diary app itself once you've set it up, including:

This data lives entirely in the Supabase project you create when you set up Dank Diary. It's governed by your own Supabase account, not by us.

Where your app data is actually stored

Once you've set up Dank Diary, your product data is stored using Supabase, a database service — but in your own Supabase project, created and owned by you. We don't operate, manage, or have credentials for it. Supabase's own privacy policy and terms govern how they process data within your project; you can find that at supabase.com/privacy.

Photos and documents you upload are stored in your Supabase Storage bucket, accessible only through your account.

Data sharing

We don't sell, trade, or rent personal information, and we don't share data with advertisers. We're not in a position to share your app data with anyone, because we never have it.

The one exception worth noting: Dank Diary has an optional product-sharing feature. If you choose to generate a public share link for a specific product, that product's data (not your account or other products) becomes visible to anyone with that link. You control if and when this happens, and you can revoke any share link at any time from within the app.

Cookies and this website

This marketing website (dankdiary.com) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand basic traffic patterns, such as which pages are visited. This is privacy-focused, cookie-free analytics — it doesn't use cookies, fingerprinting, or any tracking that follows you across other sites, and it doesn't collect personal information. We don't use Google Analytics or any advertising trackers.

The Dank Diary app itself, once installed on your own hosting, uses your browser's local storage as a fast local cache for things like your theme preference, dismissed tips, and your login session. Your terpene preferences are cached locally too, but they're synced to and stored in your own Supabase project — this local copy is just for instant loading, not where that data actually lives. All of this stays entirely on your device and in your own self-hosted setup.

Your rights and control

Because your product data lives in your own Supabase account, you're already in full control of it. Within the app, you can:

For the limited information we do hold (your waitlist or purchase email), you can request access or deletion, or unsubscribe from any email by replying to it or contacting us below.

Data retention

Waitlist email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or until early access is sent out. We don't retain any data from inside the app itself, since we never receive it in the first place.

Children's privacy

Dank Diary is intended for adults only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 21.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We'll note the date of the most recent revision at the top of this page.
